The Body Temperature

The normal human body temperature is 37°C or 98.6°F. The body temperature must be maintained as close as possible to this temperature as failure to do so may result in the death of the casualty.

If the body temperature has risen or dropped from the above value the first aiders priorities are:

1. To remove the casualty from excessive heat or cold.

2. To restore normal body temperature. Slowly restore normal body temperature if onset was
slow rapidly if onset was rapid.

3. Obtain medical assistance as appropriate.
