The Body Temperature
The normal human body
temperature is 37°C or
98.6°F. The body temperature must be maintained as close as
possible to this temperature as failure to do so may result in the
death of the casualty.
If the body temperature has
risen or dropped from the above value the first aiders priorities are:
1. To remove the
casualty from
excessive heat or cold.
2. To restore normal
body
temperature. Slowly restore normal body
temperature if onset was
slow rapidly if onset was rapid.
3. Obtain
medical assistance as appropriate.
